I mentioned at the beginning of the year that I wanted to focus on fixing or finishing projects in February. That included picking up my long forgotten Isthmus Pullover from the works-in-progress pile. I started it some time 2017 and as happened frequently at that time in my life, I had to put it down to focus on something else.
But it’s finally finished! And I put it down at a good spot. When I cast-on, I had planned to knit the 50″ size and 4 and a half years later, I thought the 54″ might be a better fit. I think the 50 still would have fit but the 54 is just a bit more comfy.
The Isthmus Pullover Knitting Pattern
Isthmus is designed by Allison Jane for Berroco Portfolio Volume 4. It’s a top down sweater pattern that begins with the squishiest double collar. The diamond shapes begin in that collar and then work out to form the body and sleeve panels.
Those shapes are worked with tiny 1×1 cable crosses. I found that I needed to twist the knit stitches to get them to really stand out and look uniform between the cross rows and the work even rows. Yay for loose knitting tension.
I knit the body to the length suggested in the pattern, but thought I worked the sleeves a little longer. On me, they’re closer to three-quarter or bracelet length sleeves. But I think they work and make this sweater a little more wearable throughout the year.
The Works-In-Progress Finishing Party Continues
I’m really glad to finally have an Isthmus Pullover to wear in the wild! I’ve also worked on a couple of other in-progress projects. Seeing the WIP Pile diminish makes me feel so good.
