…because I really like to ignore them, apparently. So I have made a list of 2020 goals!
My 2020 goals include
- Find a new job DONE
- Learn to sew jeans/pants
- Make 20 things with yarn
Today, I am putting out into the world the list of 20* things I want to make in 2020. There’s actually 21 things on the list but a few of them are baby projects so I counted them as 2/3 each. I do what I want.
My friends keep having babies, which is a great thing because I’m too easily distracted to actually make things for their first babies. I have three baby projects to make: the Robin Romper, the Easy Baby Booties, and the Billy Cardigan.
Then there’s the crochet projects
Toni Lipsey’s Summertime Tee looks like it’d make a great crochet tee for warmer weather. I have some Berroco Indigo lying around that would be great with it. I’ve knit a fair amount of socks but have never crocheted them. I’m going to give that a go with Vicki Brown’s Trailing Lace Socks. I also plan to crochet the Dripping Lines Blanket by Heather Tucker, using colors that I think will coordinate with the blanket I made for the big brother of the intended recipient.
There’s also some accessories, as I want to really spread out the makes over the year and not only knit sweaters.
I, like too many of us, have a million skeins of fingering weight yarn and many of them are in a wide range of colors. So I’m planning to knit the Scamper Socks by Maggie Menzel with one of those highly variegated varieties laying about my yarn “storage.” I’m also quite enamored with Francoise Danoy’s Taha Moana shawl and plan to work it in two colors because stash-busting. Bristol Ivy’s Nesting Wrap has been in my queue for a while and I’m super excited about the yarns I have chosen for it.
I need to re-knit my Deep Woods Toque from Kiyomi Burgin (which means I also need to find where I stashed it) as it was coming out too small when I first worked on it, but I love this hat. I loved the Hitaspa blanket from Védis Jónsdóttir since the moment I laid eyes on it and I need it. NEED. And finally there’s Solar Flare from Cetus Knits. I love this shape and the color play and think this will be a fun project.
Of course, there will be garments.
I’m not going to talk about each one of these because there’s a good amount of them. You should just click the links to check out each one.
Having these project-oriented crafting goals really helps me feel like I’m organized and have a plan for my year. But really, the overarching goals are to knit from my stash, because it is legion, and to find my love of knitting again.
How about you? Do you set any crafting goals for your year? Do you meet them? If so, please share all of your secrets, because I need some motivation.
Fantastic list! We have a lot of crossover projects that we both want to knit. But mostly – knit. that. stash.
THAT. The stash. It’s gotta go.
