OMG I FINISHED A THING THAT I CAN ACTUALLY SHARE HERE. I’m a little rusty—bear with me.
When I was back east for Rhinebeck a month and a half ago, I crashed at Amy Christoffers house one evening, and spent much of the evening trying to abscond with her original Gold Rush Shawl. In the end, Amy realized the only way to save her sample was to distract me with yarn to knit my own version, and shoved two skeins of Jill Draper Makes Stuff Mohonk in one of my favorite colors into my hand and said “Make one!”
So I left the sample shawl alone and went along my merry way, planning to make my own Gold Rush Shawl one day. Then, one day a few weeks ago, Thea Colman announced on Instagram that she had started knitting her own Gold Rush Shawl, and lo, a very unofficial and very small knitalong was born.
Thea finished hers a week or so ago, and I just bound mine off over the long weekend. And then I risked frostbite this morning to get photos before I had to go to work because I was so excited to share this FO with everyone! I freaking love this shawl. I have daydreams of making it into a blanket using a chunky yarn and just curling up under it. It’s huge and it’s cozy and the yarn has a love rusticness to it. While I was knitting with it, that rustic feeling was overwhelming, but after a bath and a blocking session, it’s softened up so nicely and is so cozy to wear.
I’m going to be living in this shawl this winter. You should make your own to live in, too.
The shawl is super cute and you look amazing.
What a cozy lovely shawl! Definitely looks like something you’ll be living in for the winter and spring 🙂
Have I told you that I love this? Maybe on Twitter? Whatevs. I love this shawl and the photoshoot. x
I have no idea, but thank you!!
