I’ve got a weekend full of scarf knitting ahead of me and I’ve already finished watching Community season 3! Thankfully my Netflix queue was updated yesterday, so I’ll be able to plug in and go. Laundry? Who needs clean laundry?!
(Do as I say, not as I do. Always take plenty of yarn with you.)
- Fredrika (free) by Tiina Kuu is a worsted-weight sock pattern featuring twisted stitches and a beautifully wrought stitch pattern along the inside of the leg. I’ve never knit socks with worsted yarn, have you?
- I love Cookie A’s highly structural patterns, and her newest collecition of non-sock patterns is no exception. Shapes and Forms ($18) features thirteen patterns inspired by geometry and topology. My favorites are Rotation, Lateral, and Slope (pictured).
- You know how much I love Sweet Georgia Yarns. Well, I also love the pattern support Felicia designs for her yarns. The Five by Five Cowl (free) uses two Sweet Georgia yarns held together for a luscious infinity scarf in a ribbed pattern.
- Kristen Hanley Cardozo also has a new collection out, Jolie with Pointed Sticks ($16). A sweet little collection of accessories to knit (perfect for gift-giving! Don’t look at me like that, the holidays are four months away), my favorites include Ida and Clara, pictured.
- I just learned about Cooperative Press’s Knit Edge yesterday. I’m curious to see how this mini e-mag will progress, but I love Sarah Wilson’s Pelotonner ($6.99 for the eBook with 7 patterns). The slouchy fit with easy cables is a perfect any-time sweater.
- You might remember how much I love the Frost Flowers stitch pattern, and was excited to see it used in a Quince and Company, called Imogen Tee. Now there’s a long-sleeved version worked in Finch, 100% wool (as opposed to the original which used Tern, a wool and silk blend). Imogen Wool ($4 through the end of August).
All photos are from Ravelry pattern pages unless otherwise noted.
I knit up Fredrika a few months ago, and adore the finished result. It’s a lovely pattern and a fantastic quick-gratification project (although the socks haven’t seen much wear of late. August is not worsted season. Come January I may be living in them.)
August is not sock wearing season, period! That’s a wonderful recommendation, they will definitely be added to my “to-consider-knitting-one-day” list (my queue is out of control).
How did I not know Cookie A. does non-socks? Love the Sarah Wilson pattern though.
Cookie’s garment designing is a new thing! A wonderful new thing.
The only pair of socks I’ve knit was years and years ago, in worsted? aran? maybe bulky? it was a neon pastel rainbow (think 1980’s) and I used them as knee-high slippers.
Would I wear them now? no way. 🙂
Hey, hard to go wrong with knee high slippers. Those sound delightfully warm.
