I know, things have been kind of boring here since I’ve been in project monogamy AND we’re still losing light too early for me to take in-progress photos. But progress has been made—just last night, I separated for the fronts and back, and finished the shaping portion of the left front. I’m hoping that come Sunday evening or so, I’ll have finished the body of the cardigan (and at least started and made progress on a baby gift or two, for a baby shower at the end of the month). PLUS, my brand new camera lens should be at my house when I get there today (it’s a Canon 24mm f/2.8, rounding out my lens arsenal for the time being with my 18-55mm kit lens, 75-200mm telephoto, and 50mm f/1.8… for any photonerds out there).
I felt bad for having no content here whatsoever, so I thought that even if I don’t have knitting progress to show you, I can share some of my favorite current media darlings, things that get me through days of working and not knitting (I could knit at lunch break and stuff, but I really need to be more mindful about resting my wrists).
You probably remember Ingrid Michaelson’s name from her “The Way I Am” single and it’s ubiquitous overplay thanks to Old Navy (the song includes the line “If you are chilly, here take my sweater;” Old Navy loved it, apparently). A few years later and I do love that song again, but recently I’ve been obsessed with a newer single, “Parachute.”
If you like that, scope around YouTube for an acoustic version; the Billboard version includes Ingrid on a ukulele, and you know how I feel about ukuleles.
Another Ingrid video, this time a cover of another fantastic song, Gotye’s “Somebody that I Used to Know.”
And connecting to Gotye once more, “Somebody that I Used to Know” also features a Kiwi artist named Kimbra, and I just love her first album (Vows) and this superfun mashup she did.
