Today’s blog prompt:
Whatever happened to your __________?
Write about the fate of a past knitting project. Whether it be something that you crocheted or knitted for yourself or to give to another person. An item that lives with you or something which you sent off to charity.
You know… I really don’t have a great answer for this. All of the stuff that I’ve made for myself is still in my possession, in relatively good shape, seeing somewhat frequent use depending on extraneous circumstances (weather, my aversion to wearing things on my feet, etc.). No great stories of loss or triumphs over dastardly winds that threaten to steal my handknits and take them to who knows where.
As for things I’ve gifted people, folks are rather appreciative but not very forthcoming with details. First pair of socks were knit for my dad. Does he ever wear them? Are knit socks, or really, socks of any kind, worn frequently by retired folk? I made slippers for my family for Christmas one year. They live in Florida. Warm woolen slippers with fleece lining are not going to see much use (though I think my mom told me she did pull the lining out of hers so he could wear them around the house more).
This is all rather anticlimactic, isn’t it?
