Stitch ‘N Bitch Strikes Again

Debbie Stoller has done it again. Her new book, Stitch ‘N Bitch Superstar Knitting, was released yesterday. I’ve only had time to really quickly flip through the book, but this is a super find for any fan of the Stitch ‘N Bitch series.

When I first re-learned to knit a few years ago, my friend Betsy and Stoller’s first Stitch ‘N Bitch book were my guides. The easy-to-see illustrations and conversational text removed any intimidation from a technique, and the patterns provided an excellent starting point. I mostly knit scarves from the first book, and did not think to document the process. My current queue features a liberal sprinkling of patterns from the first book as well as Stitch ‘N Bitch Nation.

My initial impression of Superstar Knitting is that it takes all the awesome parts from previous books and adds them to advanced knitting techniques. There’s a lot of colorwork, including a section steeking, which I will conquer soon! I keep saying that. It will happen, one of these days.

There are some super cute patterns in this book, too, such as Flirty (pictured below; you know I’m a sucker for knee highs), Steeks and Stones, Dress to Impress, and Nip/Tuck.

Mandy at Zig Zag Stitches goes more in-depth in her review, and for 24 more hours or so, you can enter to win your very own copy. Another blogger, Crazy Knitting Lady, also posted excellent review.

Elli Stubenrauch of Elliphantom Knits designed these awesome Squirrely Mittens for the book, and is giving away the pattern at her blog!
