Dieting!

Yarn dieting, that is. For the rest of the century. For real for real. By the end of this post, you will understand.

The following photos of yarn appeared in my house within the last week. I was already a little bit pressed for space for yarn. Now? I’m going to drown in yarn. I can think of worse ways to die, but I’d rather not die, period.

Cascade 220 in a blue/dark grey heather, six skeins. This was the last of the yarn in this colorway at the LYS down the street from my office. Sadly, they’re closing, so I will miss traveling down there to pet pretty yarn and the cute cat. So I had to make a pilgrimage, and spotted this color. I think this will end up being a Tilted Duster, from Interweave Knits Fall 2007.

Knit Picks Shine Sport in Willow and Serrano. I’ll use the Willow and Serrano to make my Loop Entrelac Tank, but most of the Serrano is going to be made into a cardigan for my mom for Christmas. My mom requested that I make her a cardigan for Christmas, and she bought the yarn for the cardigan and worked with me to pick out Kira Dulaney’s Essential Cardigan, so that will be one of my next projects.

Fuschia Italian Merino Laceweight that I got from Jeny’s Originals in Laramie, Wyoming, as part of the yarn crawl I went on this weekend. I don’t know the yardage, so I have to figure that out, and I have no idea what it will be, but I couldn’t really resist this gorgeously saturated color.

Mini Mochi fingering weight yarn, also bought on the yarn crawl. I bought this at Prairie Wind in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I’m anticipating a new pair of socks.

This? This represents the loss of any semblance of self control. Eight hanks of Elsebeth Lavold’s Silky Wool in this lovely, deep lilac color. I’m thinking it will be Laura Grutzeck’s Essential Cardigan (there are a lot of essential cardigans, apparently). I picked this up at Your Daily Fiber here in Fort Collins, because as part of the yarn crawl, they had all of their commercial yarns were 15% off, and I didn’t have sweater quantities of DK weight yarn in my stash, despite numerous projects that called for DK weight in my queue. So uh, now I have some.

And I am not buying any more yarn for the rest of my life. Because each hank shortens my life expectancy, as they’re apparently multiplying like bunnies and seriously overwhelming me.

  1. All of these yarns are so pretty! I’m sure they will get used up soon, so they won’t take up space for too long. 😉
