Boooooorring

It’s been rather quiet here, though I’m still trekking along. The problem is that I’m currently working on my Owls sweater. You know, that sweater that so many people knit last year, with the cute little cabled owl yoke? Yes, that one.

The one that, so far, as been miles of endless stockinette, which is not terribly interesting for photography purposes. I mean, you all know what stockinette stitch looks like, right? Do you really need to see it in a bulky-weight, cream-colored yarn? Somehow, I doubt it. I’m almost done with the increases and then I think I get to start making owls and separating stitches for sleeves, so that will be fun.

Hopefully by this weekend I’ll have something more exciting, like some owls, or a mostly finished pair of socks. In the meantime, I’ll distract you with a link to Kate Davies’ own parliament of owls, and some of my favorite Owls sweaters from Ravelry.

I love that EricaG gave her owls a little tree!

How great is siljevanilje‘s choice of color?

I’m trying very hard to not think about how long it must have taken elevenstitches to do those buttons. I’m looking forward to shopping for buttons, not so much sewing them on.

I’m a sucker for a well-photographed project and lajenna‘s project photos are awesome–great balance of overall scene and focus on the project. I’m also not looking forward to figuring out how to photograph my own sweater.

How bloody adorable is this owls dress by FrkSnupp?

Okay, so the other way to get my attention is to include a cat. Still, that’s some excellent knitting by Gatucaguapa.

Oh, I love the one with the tree branch! Too cute! I’ve got this in my queue, but I think I’m going to go the cheap way out and knit it as a vest for J-man instead of the full sweater. That’ll give me my owl gratification without the miles of stockinette. Of course, it might be some therapeutic car-loop knitting. We’ll see. Can’t wait to get a glimpse of yours. You take fabulous photos, Amy. I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding a suitable place/way to photograph your sweater.

Yeah I’m starting to regret the stockinette. I’m about to post project pics, but I’ve already got my eye on a second sweater with LOTS of different stitches and cables. 😀

And thank you, Angie! You’re too sweet. I miss you and the other gals.

Yeah… I think I’m going to have to eventually make this sweater. I love those owls.

It is very quick and easy, but having never done a sweater’s worth of stockinette before…I kind of want to stab myself with the needles. 😉
